Storage Lyophilized products are stable for one year at -20°C to -80°C from date of receipt. Refreezing should be performed on dry ice or in a dry ice/alcohol bath.

Background: 

Recombinant human Pleiotrophin (PTN), expressed in engineered human cells, is a secretory cytokine that has a high affinity for heparin. PTN isolated initially from rat uterus as a mitogen to NIH 3T3 cells, is a member of the midkine family that has cysteine and basic amino acid-rich residues distinct from other heparin-binding protein families. It was reported that PTN acts as a neurotrophic factor for spinal motor neurons and protects them against chronic excitotoxic cell death in vitro. Also it was reported that PTN is expressed by several tumor cells including breast cancer cells and thought to be involved in tumor angiogenesis.
