Background:

Recombinant human G-CSF, expressed in engineered human cells, is a member of the IL-6 superfamily. G-CSF induces the survival, proliferation, differentiation and activation of neutrophilic granulocyte precursor cells and activates mature blood neutrophils and is the most potent of the colony-stimulating factors that induce terminal differentiation to granulocytes and macrophages in leukemic myeloid cell lines. G-CSF is an important signaling molecule in the maintenance of equilibrium of hematopoiesis, defense against infection, inflammation and repair.
